Statement on the Passing of Senator Lindsey Graham
It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime friend and supporter of the Kurdish people. Throughout his distinguished career in the United States Senate, Senator Graham was a prominent voice on issues of international security, freedom, and the protection of America’s allies.
For Kurds across the world, however, he will be remembered especially for his willingness to stand beside the Kurdish people during some of their most difficult and uncertain moments. Through his advocacy for the Save the Kurds Act and his continued efforts to defend the Kurdish people from violence, persecution, and abandonment, Senator Graham demonstrated that friendship with the Kurds was more than a matter of words.
When the Kurdish people needed voices in Washington willing to speak on their behalf, Senator Graham was among those who stood up and spoke. The Kurdish people have lost a friend, and the United States has lost a dedicated public servant whose decades of service left an undeniable mark on American political life and foreign policy.

On behalf of the Kurdistan Communities Assembly, we extend our deepest condolences to Senator Graham’s family, friends, colleagues, staff, the people of South Carolina, and the American people. Kurds will remember Senator Graham with gratitude for his friendship, may he rest in peace!
